          বিদ্যুৎ, জ্বালানি ও খনিজ সম্পদ প্রতিমন্ত্রী নসরুল হামিদ বলেছেন, পরিবেশবান্ধব উন্নয়নের জন্য বাংলাদেশে  নবায়নযোগ্য উৎস হতে বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদনকে গুরুত্ব দেয়া হচ্ছে। মোট উৎপাদিত বিদ্যুতের ১০ শতাংশ নবায়নযোগ্য উৎস থেকে উৎপাদনের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে। প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহের লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ সোলার হোম সিস্টেম প্রোগ্রাম এবং সোলার মিনি গ্রিড প্রোগ্রামের মতো বেশ কিছু অভিনব উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। বায়ু ও বর্জ্য থেকেও বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদনের কাজ চলমান রয়েছে।

 

          প্রতিমন্ত্রী আজ অনলাইনে ‘সিওপি ২৬ এনার্জি ট্রানজিশন কাউন্সিল’ এর প্ল্যানারি সেশনে বক্তব্যকালে এসব কথা বলেন।

 

          প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, নবায়নযোগ্য জ্বালানির প্রসারে একটি আন্তর্জাতিক প্লাটফর্ম প্রয়োজন- যেখান থেকে আর্থিক, কারিগরি, সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক সহযোগিতা পাওয়া যাবে। যুক্তরাজ্যের নেতৃত্বে এনার্জি ট্রানজিশন কাউন্সিল এ কাজ করবে এই আশাব্যক্ত করে নসরুল হামিদ  বলেন, বৈশ্বিক জলবায়ু সংকট মোকাবেলায় ক্লিন ও গ্রিন এনার্জি প্রসারের কোনো বিকল্প নেই। বাংলাদেশ বিল্ডিং-এর ছাদ থেকে সৌরবিদ্যুৎ নেয়ার জন্য নেট মিটারিং গাইডলাইন প্রণয়ন  করেছে। ছাদ হতে সৌরবিদ্যুৎ-এর সক্ষমতা সংযোজন ১৬ মেগাওয়াট ছাড়িয়েছে।  সেচ কার্যক্রমেও সৌরবিদ্যুৎ ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে।

 

          যুক্তরাজ্যের বাণিজ্য, জ্বালানি ও পরিষ্কার প্রবৃদ্ধি মন্ত্রী Kwasi Kwarteng এর সভাপতিত্বে ও এশিয়া-প্যাসিফিক অঞ্চলের ‘সিওপি ২৬’ এম্বাসেডর Ken O’Flaherty সঞ্চালনায় অন্যান্যের মধ্যে লাওস, মিয়ানমার, ফিলিপাইন্স, পাকিস্তান, ভিয়েতনাম, কানাডা, জাপান, এডিবি, আইরিনা প্রভৃতি দেশ ও সংস্থার মন্ত্রী ও প্রতিনিধিবৃন্দ বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন।

 

          উল্লেখ্য, ‘সিওপি ২৬ এনার্জি ট্রানজিশন কাউন্সিল "উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলোতে কয়লা থেকে নবায়নযোগ্য জ্বালানিতে রূপান্তর দ্রুত করার জন্য রাজনীতি, অর্থ ও প্রযুক্তি জুড়ে বিদ্যুৎ খাতের নেতাদের একত্রিত করবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে।’

Uzbekistan Agreed to hold first FOC Meeting

 

Tashkent, December 4:

 

            A meeting between Md. Zahangir Alam, Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan and Furqat A. Sidikov, Depurty Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan was held on today in the Foreign Ministry.

 

            In response to Bangladesh Ambassador's proposal, Deputy Foreign Minister agreed to the following important issues:

 

            First Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) meeting to be held in April 2021; Virtual meeting on avoidance of Double Taxation between two countries in this month;  Virtual meeting between Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturing Exporters Association (BKMEA) in January 2021.

 

            In the meeting, Deputy Minister assured to assist the Ambassador to arrange meeting with the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan regarding development of relations in the pharmaceuticals sector and also with the Minister of Transport to finalize agreement on direct passenger flight in Tashkent-Dhaka-Thashkent route.

 

            Nrependra Chandra Debnath, Minister of Bangladesh Embassy and concerned official of the Ministry were present during the meeting.

পদ্মা সেতুতে ৪০তম স্প্যান স্থাপন

দৃশ্যমান হলো ৬ কিলোমিটার

          আজ মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলার লৌহজং থানার মাওয়া প্রান্তে ১১ ও ১২ নম্বর পিয়ারের (খুঁটি) উপর ৪০তম স্প্যান স্থাপনের মধ্য দিয়ে দৃশ্যমান হলো পদ্মা সেতুর ৬ কিলোমিটার। বাকি রইল আর মাত্র একটি স্প্যান। ১৫০ মিটারের সর্বশেষ অর্থাৎ ৪১তম স্প্যান স্থাপন করা হলেই দৃশ্যমান হবে পুরো পদ্মা সেতু। ৪১তম স্প্যানটি মাওয়া প্রান্তে ১২ এবং ১৩ নম্বর পিয়ারের উপর শীঘ্রই স্থাপন করা হবে।

 

          উল্লেখ্য, মূল সেতুর ২৯১৭টি রোডওয়ে স্ল্যাব এর মধ্যে ১২৬১টি এবং ২৯৫৯টি রেলওয়ে স্ল্যাব এর মধ্যে ১৮৬৮টি স্থাপন করা হয়েছে। মাওয়া ও জাজিরা ভায়াডাক্টে ৪৮৪টি সুপার গার্ডারের মধ্যে ৩০৩টি স্থাপন করা হয়েছে।

 

          এ পর্যন্ত মূল সেতুর বাস্তব কাজের অগ্রগতি শতকরা ৯১ ভাগ। নদী শাসন কাজের বাস্তব অগ্রগতি শতকরা ৭৫ দশমিক ৫০ ভাগ। সংযোগ সড়ক ও সার্ভিস এরিয়ার বাস্তব কাজ শত ভাগ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। প্রকল্পের সার্বিক অগ্রগতি শতকরা ৮২ দশমিক ৫০ ভাগ।

          জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের জন্মশতবার্ষিকী উদ্‌যাপন জাতীয় বাস্তবায়ন কমিটির উদ্যোগে মুজিববর্ষ উপলক্ষ্যে আয়োজিত ১০০ দিনব্যাপী দেশের সর্ববৃহৎ অনলাইনভিত্তিক ‘বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব কুইজ’ প্রতিযোগিতার আজকের (৪ ডিসেম্বর ২০২০) কুইজ :

 

          ১৯৩৭ সালে গোপালগঞ্জ মিশন স্কুলে ভর্তির পর শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানকে পড়ানোর জন্য গৃহশিক্ষক হিসেবে কাজী আবদুল হামিদকে রাখা হয়। তিনি গোপালগঞ্জে একটি সমিতি গঠন করেন, যার মাধ্যমে গরিব ছেলেদের সাহায্য করা হতো। এজন্য মুষ্টি ভিক্ষার চাল উঠানো হতো মুসলমান বাড়ি থেকে। প্রত্যেক রবিবার থলি নিয়ে বাড়ি বাড়ি থেকে চাল উঠানো হতো এবং এই চাল বিক্রি করে গরিব ছেলেদের বই, পরীক্ষা ও অন্যান্য খরচ দেওয়া হতো। ঘুরে ঘুরে জায়গিরও ঠিক করে দিতেন কাজী আবদুল হামিদ। শেখ মুজিবকে অনেক কাজ করতে হতো তাঁর সঙ্গে। হঠাৎ যক্ষ্মা রোগে আক্রান্ত হয়ে কাজী আবদুল হামিদ মারা গেলে ওই সেবা সমিতির ভার নেন শেখ মুজিব এবং অনেক দিন তিনি এটি পরিচালনা করেন।

Government has decided to relocate, in phases,

One Lac Rohingyas to Bhashan Char

 

Dhaka, December 4:

 

            In the face of growing concern over the extreme congestion in the camps of Cox’s Bazar and to avert any risk of death due to landslides and other unwarranted incidents, the Government of Bangladesh has decided to relocate, in phases, 1,00,000 Rohingyas to Bhashan Char. Accordingly, in the first phase, more than 1600 Rohingyas, who expressed their willingness voluntarily for relocation, have been shifted to Bhashan Char today. 

 

            The relocation has become imperative to de-congest the over-crowded camps in Cox’s Bazar that have temporarily been accommodating nearly a million of Rohingyas with many more thousands born each year. The deteriorating security situation due to prolonged stay of these frustrated people in Cox’s Bazar also compelled the Government of Bangladesh to come up with a contingency plan and develop Bhashan Char from its own budgetary allocation. Accordingly, the Government invested more than USD 350.00 million to develop the island. 

 

            The 13,000 acres island has all modern amenities, year-round fresh water, beautiful lake and proper infrastructure and enhanced facilities. These include uninterrupted supply of electricity and water, agricultural plots, cyclone shelters, two hospitals, four community clinics, mosques, warehouses, telecommunication services, police station, recreation and learning centers, playgrounds, etc. In contrast to the makeshift structures of the camps in Cox’s Bazar, the accommodation in Bhashan Char is strongly-built with concrete foundation which can withstand natural disasters such as cyclones and tidal waves. Super Cyclone AMPHAN proved the strength of the structures of Bhashan Char. Contrary to the apprehension of some quarters about the feasibility of the island, Bhashan Char stood firm against the massive storm. Despite the heightened tidal wave, all the 1440 houses and 120 shelter stations in the island remained unharmed. The island is connected with the mainland through waterways. 

 

            The Government of Bangladesh has ensured adequate supply of food along with proper sanitation and medical facilities for Rohingyas in Bhashan Char. Proper hospitals with highly qualified health professionals, adequate COVID testing and treatment facilities are in place. In addition to Government agencies, around 22 NGOs are already there to extend all possible support to the relocated Rohingyas. Adequate security has been ensured in the island by deployment of police personnel including female police.  The area is fully covered with CCTV cameras. 

 

            On the relocation, the Government of Bangladesh’s position was very clear and transparent from the very beginning that any relocation would be entirely on a voluntary basis. Accordingly, a good number of Rohingya representatives undertook a 'go and see' visit to Bhashan Char to see the facilities and make an independent and informed choice.

A number of NGOs and journalists also visited the island. All of them expressed their high satisfaction at the available facilities in Bhashan Char.  A media team and a group of senior journalists are already in Bhashan Char.  More importantly, the relocation was preceded by adequate preparations and consultations held with different stakeholders.

 

            It may be mentioned that the relocation is a part of the broader plan of repatriation which is the only priority for the Government of Bangladesh. The skill development and livelihood opportunity that the Rohingyas would be able to avail in Bhashan Char would prepare them for their reintegration in the Myanmar society on return. The types of economic activities such as fishing, agriculture, goal rearing, etc that they used to pursue in Rakhine state is available in Bhashan Char. 

 

            When the persecuted Rohingyas from Myanmar were fleeing en masse from the violence, persecution and atrocities in the hands of their own people in their own land, it was Bangladesh who, purely out of humanitarian gesture, responded immediately and opened her borders and thus saved nearly a million of precious lives. The generous people of Bangladesh offered all kinds of assistance to these persecuted Myanmar nationals before any international humanitarian agency stepped in. We set another unique example of humanity in the world by developing a modern island to temporarily accommodate some of these persecuted Rohingyas. 

 

            The Rohingyas are Myanmar nationals and they must return to Myanmar. The Government of Bangladesh is doing its best for the safety and security of these temporarily sheltered Myanmar Nationals. At this stage, it is only practical that International Community including the United Nations fulfill their responsibility and meaningfully engage with Myanmar to commence repatriation, which is the only durable solution of this crisis. At the same time, we urge all to exercise utmost caution not to undermine or misinterpret the genuine efforts of the Government of Bangladesh. We would encourage human rights groups to put their efforts in creating conducive environment inside Myanmar for their quick, safe and dignified repatriation to their land of origin, Myanmar.

          তথ্য প্রতিমন্ত্রী ডা. মোঃ মুরাদ হাসান বলেছেন, ১৯৭১-এ আমাদের পূর্বসূরীরা জীবন উৎসর্গ করে যেভাবে  দেশপ্রেম, মানবতার দেদীপ্যমান শিখা প্রজ্বলিত রেখেছেন, আজকের তরুণদেরও সে চেতনায় উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়ে মানুষের কল্যাণে ও দেশের সেবায় কাজ করতে হবে। পুরো পৃথিবী যখন করোনা মহামারিতে আক্রান্ত হয়ে বিপর্যস্ত-বিপন্ন এ সময়েই তোমাদেরকে মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়াতে হবে, তাদের সেবায় আত্মনিমগ্ন হতে হবে।

 

          প্রতিমন্ত্রী আজ জামালপুরের সরিষাবাড়ী উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্স মিলনায়তনে নবনিযুক্ত পেইড পার ভলান্টিয়ারদের (Paid Per Volunteers) মাঝে সনদপত্র বিতরণ অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় এ কথা বলেন।

            'মৌলবাদী অপশক্তি দেশকে পিছিয়ে দেয়ার যে অপচেষ্টায় লিপ্ত, তা রুখে দিতে গণমাধ্যমের ভূমিকা অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ' বলেছেন তথ্যমন্ত্রী ও আওয়ামী লীগের যুগ্ম সাধারণ সম্পাদক ড. হাছান মাহ্‌মুদ। 

            আজ রাজধানীর মিন্টু রোডের সরকারি বাসভবন থেকে অনলাইনে বাংলাদেশ বেতারের খুলনা কেন্দ্রের ৫০ বছরপূর্তি  অনুষ্ঠানমালা উদ্বোধনকালে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় সমসাময়িক প্রসঙ্গে তিনি একথা বলেন। তথ্যসচিব খাজা মিয়া, বাংলাদেশ বেতারের মহাপরিচালক হোসনে আরা তালুকদার অনলাইনে এবং  খুলনা সিটি মেয়র তালুকদার আবদুল খালেক, খুলনা জেলা পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান শেখ হারুন অর রশীদ খুলনা বেতারকেন্দ্রে উপস্থিত হয়ে অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দেন। 

            তথ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, 'মৌলবাদী গোষ্ঠীগুলো যুগে যুগে দেশকে পিছিয়ে দেয়ার অপচেষ্টা চালিয়েছে। আজও দেশের বিরুদ্ধে নানা ষড়যন্ত্র হচ্ছে, নানা বিষয়ে অপব্যাখ্যা ও ফতোয়া দেয়া হচ্ছে। এই ফতোয়াবাজরা নানা সময়ে ফতোয়া দিয়ে সমাজে অস্থিরতা তৈরি করেছে।' 

            এই প্রেক্ষাপটে বেতারসহ সমগ্র গণমাধ্যমের ভূমিকা অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উল্লেখ করে মন্ত্রী বলেন, দেশ যাতে প্রগতির দিকে যায় এবং একইসাথে দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্ম যেনো দেশপ্রেম, মেধা ও মননের সমন্বয়ে আগামী দিনের চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় নিজেদের তৈরি করতে পারে, সেই লক্ষ্য নিয়েই গণমাধ্যমের অনুষ্ঠান নির্মাণ করতে হবে। 

            বিনোদন দেবার ক্ষেত্রেও আমাদের কৃষ্টি-সংস্কৃতি-ঐতিহ্যকে প্রাধান্য দিতে হবে, তাহলেই আকাশ- সংস্কৃতির আগ্রাসন মোকাবিলা করে আমরা দেশকে বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্বপ্নের ঠিকানায় পৌঁছে দিতে পারবো, বলেন তিনি।

            তথ্যমন্ত্রী এসময় সুবর্ণজয়ন্তী উপলক্ষে বেতারের খুলনা কেন্দ্রসহ পুরো বেতার পরিবারকে অভিনন্দন জানান। সমুদ্র এবং পাহাড়চূড়াসহ সকল প্রান্তে অবস্থিত জনমানুষের কাছে পৌঁছানোর জন্য বেতারকে অনন্য গণমাধ্যম হিসেবে অভিহিত করে তিনি বলেন, বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাস-ঐতিহ্য-সংস্কৃতি সবকিছুর সাথে বেতার জড়িয়ে আছে। 

            তিনি বলেন, 'স্বাধীন বাংলা বেতার কেন্দ্র বাংলাদেশ বেতারের সবচেয়ে বড় অর্জন। ১৯৭১ সালে কালুরঘাট বেতার কেন্দ্র থেকে জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধুর দেয়া স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণা পাঠ করে শুনিয়েছিলেন তৎকালীন চট্টগ্রাম আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি এম এ হান্নান। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় স্বাধীন বাংলা বেতার কেন্দ্র দেশের সমস্ত মুক্তিকামী মানুষকে প্রেরণা জুগিয়েছে। স্বাধীনতার পর দেশগঠনেও ব্যাপক ভূমিকা রেখেছে বেতার। খুলনা কেন্দ্রও গত ৫০ বছর ধরে এর ব্যাতিক্রম নয়।'

            বর্তমান কোভিড পরিস্থিতি মোকাবিলাতেও বেতার অগ্রণী ভূমিকা পালন করছে, বলেন তথ্যমন্ত্রী। বেতারের সেবাকে আরো এগিয়ে নিতে শিগগিরই বঙ্গবন্ধু স্যাটেলাইটের মাধ্যমে বেতার সম্প্রচার শুরু হবে, জানান তিনি। 

            তথ্যসচিব খাজা মিয়া তাঁর বক্তৃতায় খুলনা কেন্দ্রসহ সমগ্র বেতারের সকলকে সংস্থাটির সুবর্ণজয়ন্তী উপলক্ষে শুভেচ্ছা জানান। 

            বাংলাদেশ বেতারের মহাপরিচালক হোসনে আরা তালুকদার অনুষ্ঠানে সকল সময়ে বিশেষ করে কোভিড-১৯ মোকাবিলায় জনগণকে সঠিক বার্তা, তথ্য ও অনুষ্ঠান উপহার দিতে বেতারের চলমান কর্মপ্রবাহের বর্ণনা দেন। 

            খুলনাকেন্দ্রের আঞ্চলিক পরিচালক মোঃ বশির উদ্দীনের সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে খুলনার সিটি মেয়র তালুকদার আব্দুল খালেক ও জেলা পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান শেখ হারুন অর রশীদ বেতারের উত্তোরত্তর সমৃদ্ধি কামনা করেন।

          পানিসম্পদ প্রতিমন্ত্রী কর্নেল (অব.) জাহিদ ফারুক বলেছেন, উজিরপুর উপজেলার সাতলাতে পানিসম্পদ মন্ত্রণালয়ের ৪৬ কোটি টাকার একটি প্রকল্প রয়েছে। সাতলায় নদীর তীর ও বাঁধের ভাঙনের একাংশের মেরামতের কাজ ইতিমধ্যে শুরু হয়ে গেছে, বাকি কাজ শীঘ্রই শুরু হয়ে যাবে। তবে বাকি অংশের কাজের জন্য প্রকৌশলীরা এসে দেখবেন কিভাবে এটিকে রক্ষা করা যায়। বাঁধটা মেরামত করা হলে এলাকাবাসী নদী ভাঙন থেকে রক্ষা পাবে।

 

          আজ প্রতিমন্ত্রী বরিশালের বানারীপাড়া ও উজিরপুর উপজেলার নদীপথ দিয়ে বিভিন্ন ভাঙন কবলিত এলাকা পরিদর্শন করেন। উজিরপুরের সাতলা ইউনিয়নের রাজাপুরে ভাঙন কবলিত এলাকা পরিদর্শন শেষে তিনি সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের জবাবে এ কথা বলেন। এর আগে উজিরপুর উপজেলার পোল্ডার নং-৩ এর সাতলা-বাগধা প্রকল্পের চলমান কাজ পরিদর্শন করেন। 

 

          পরিদর্শনকালে প্রতিমন্ত্রীর সাথে বরিশাল-২ আসনের সংসদ সদস্য আলহাজ্ব মোঃ শাহে আলম, বানারীপাড়া উপজেলা চেয়ারম্যান মোঃ গোলাম ফারুক, উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা প্রনতি বিশ্বাস ও মহানগর যুবলীগের যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক আলহাজ্ব মাহমুদুল হক খান মামুনসহ স্থানীয় আওয়ামী লীগের নেতাকর্মীরা ‍উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

কোভিড-১৯ (করোনা ভাইরাস) সংক্রান্ত সর্বশেষ প্রতিবেদন

 ‌                  স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর এবং রোগতত্ত্ব, রোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠান (আইইডিসিআর)-এর তথ্যানুযায়ী গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় দেশে ১৫ হাজার ৪৩০ জনের নমুনা পরীক্ষা করে ২ হাজার ২৫২ জনের শরীরে করোনা সংক্রমণ পাওয়া গেছে। এ নিয়ে বাংলাদেশে এখন পর্যন্ত কোভিড-১৯ আক্রান্ত রোগীর সংখ্যা ৪ লাখ ৭৩ হাজার ৯৯১ জন।

 

          গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় ৩৮ জন-সহ এ পর্যন্ত ৬ হাজার ৭৭২ জন এ রোগে মৃত্যুবরণ করেছেন।

 

          করোনা ভাইরাস আক্রান্তদের মধ্যে এখন পর্যন্ত সুস্থ হয়েছেন ৩ লাখ ৯০ হাজার ৯৫১ জন।

          মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ মন্ত্রী শ ম রেজাউল করিম বলেছেন, বঙ্গবন্ধুর ভাস্কর্য বাঙালি চেতনার মূর্ত প্রতীক। বঙ্গবন্ধুর ভাস্কর্য পরাধীনতার শৃঙ্খল ভেঙ্গে স্বাধীনতা ছিনিয়ে আনার অনুপ্রেরণা।  সকল সৎ কর্মে এগিয়ে যাবার প্রেরণার প্রতিচ্ছবি। বঙ্গবন্ধুকে নিয়ে বিতর্কের অপচেষ্টাকারীরা বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীন সত্তা নিয়ে বিতর্ক করছেন। কারণ বঙ্গবন্ধু ও বাংলাদেশ অবিচ্ছেদ্য। বঙ্গবন্ধুর ভাস্কর্য চিরভাস্বর হয়ে থাকবে।

          আজ সাভারে বাংলাদেশ প্রাণিসম্পদ গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট (বিএলআরআই)-এর সম্মেলন কক্ষে বিএলআরআই-এর দুই দিনব্যাপী বার্ষিক গবেষণা পর্যালোচনা কর্মশালা ২০২০ এর উদ্বোধন অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় মন্ত্রী এসব কথা বলেন।

          মন্ত্রী বলেন, এদেশে রাষ্ট্রীয় ও সাংবিধানিকভাবে প্রত্যেকের মত ও বিশ্বাস প্রকাশের অধিকার রয়েছে। এদেশ হিন্দু-মুসলিম-বৌদ্ধ-খ্রিস্টান সকলের। এদেশে যার ধর্ম সে পালন করবে। যার বিশ্বাস সে মেনে চলবে। এ বিশ্বাসে কাউকে জোর করে অন্য ধারণা দেয়ার সুযোগ নেই। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনায় বিশ্বাস করতে হবে, অসাম্প্রদায়িকতায় বিশ্বাস করতে হবে। বিজয়ের মাসে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনায় অসাম্প্রদায়িক বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণে কাজ করতে হবে।

          বাংলাদেশের উন্নয়নে সবচেয়ে বড় খাতের একটি প্রাণিসম্পদ উল্লেখ করে মন্ত্রী আরো বলেন, এ খাতে গবেষণার মাধ্যমে নতুন নতুন ধারণা তৈরি হচ্ছে। গবেষণালব্ধ ফলাফলের ভিত্তিতে প্রাণিসম্পদের বিভিন্ন জাত সৃষ্টি করা হবে। এর মাধ্যমে মানুষের পুষ্টি-আমিষের চাহিদা মেটানো যাবে, বেকারত্ব দূর করা যাবে। খাদ্যের একটি বড় অংশ আসে প্রাণিসম্পদ খাত থেকে। দেশের অর্থনীতির চাকা সচল করা, উদ্যোক্তা তৈরি ও বেকারত্ব দূর করার বড় ক্ষেত্রও এই প্রাণিসম্পদ। এই খাতের বহুমুখী প্রয়োজন ও ব্যবহারের সুযোগ রয়েছে।

          বাংলাদেশ প্রাণিসম্পদ গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউটের মহাপরিচালক ড. নাথু রাম সরকারের সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ সচিব রওনক মাহমুদ ও প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক ডাঃ আবদুল জব্বার শিকদার বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

Prime Minister's Message on World Soil Day

Dhaka, 4 December :

            Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the following message on the occasion of the World Soil Day-2O2O:  

            "I am happy to know that -World Soil Day' is being observed on 5 December 2020 in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world. The theme of the day, Keep Soil Alive, Protect Soil Biodiversity', I think, is appropriate in the current Context of the country.

            Continuing sustainable agricultural production and protecting soil biodiversity are major challenges in the changing global climate situation. We have made great achievement in agriculture, Even in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic, Bangladesh's agriculture has made a significant contribution to the country's food security.

            High yielding and hybrid varieties have been added to modern agriculrure. Cropping intensity has increased several times. The pressure on the soil is constantly increasing in order to produce more crops. We are emphasizing on modernization and mechanization of agriculture in the country. New high value crops are being added to the agricultural sector to implement Suntainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a result, the use of various bio-chemical agricultural inputs is also increasing. Attention must be given to ensure that these agricultural technologies do not create any threat to soil health and biodiversity.

            Soil health is closely related to human health. Sustainable soil management is required for safe food production. Agriculture in Bangladesh is now going through a transition from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture. In addition to increasing production, the quality of agricultural products must be maintained. In this case, balanced application of fertilizer and other inputs to soil is very important.

            I wish success to all the programmes undertaken on 'World Soil Day-2O2O'.

President's Message on World Soil Day   

Dhaka, 4 December :

            President Md. Abdul Hamid has given the following message on the occasion of the World Soil Day-2O2O:  

            "I am pleased to know that ‘World Soil Day-2020’ is being celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries of the world under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture. The theme of this year’s World Soil Day ‘Keep Soil Alive, Protect Soil Biodiversity’, I believe, is very significant and timely in the current context of Bangladesh.

            The importance of soil in plant growth and human welfare is undeniable. The International Union of Soil Science (IUSS) proposed the observance of the World Soil Day in 2002 to raise awareness about proper soil care. It is being observed on 5^th December each year since approval of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

            Soil is the habitat of about one-fourth of the world’s biodiversity. Soil biodiversity is an essential component of healthy soil. Soil biodiversity is the ecology of all living things, including plants, animals and micro-organisms living in the soil and their combination. Different types of micro-organisms, fungi, protozoa etc. living in the soil play an important role in protecting the health of the soil.

            At present, the loss of soil biodiversity is a matter of concern as it is reducing the fertility of the soil. Soil biodiversity is being deteriorated day by day due to intensive cultivation to meet the food demand of the growing population, unplanned use of agricultural land, expansion of industries, urbanization etc. Let us work together to take care of the soil and conserve the soil biodiversity. To implement Bangabandhu's dreams, I hope that Soil Resource Development Institute will be more active in innovating new technologies to ensure the rational and profitable use of the declining land and soil resources of the country.

            I am optimistic that through sustainable soil management, Bangladesh will be able to conserve soil biodiversity as well as ensure the food security for the gradually increasing population. I wish all the programmes taken on the occasion of ‘World Soil Day-2020’ a grand success.

বিশ্ব মৃত্তিকা দিবসে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বাণী

          প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা ‘বিশ্ব মৃত্তিকা দিবস’ উপলক্ষ্যে নিম্নোক্ত বাণী প্রদান করেছেন : 

          “বিশ্বের অন্যান্য দেশের মতো বাংলাদেশেও ৫ ডিসেম্বর ২০২০ ‘বিশ্ব মৃত্তিকা দিবস’ পালন করা হচ্ছে জেনে আমি আনন্দিত। দিবসটির এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য ‘মাটিকে সজীব রাখুন, মাটির জীববৈচিত্র্য রক্ষা করুণ’ (Keep Soil Alive, Protect Soil Biodiversity) অত্যন্ত তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ হয়েছে বলে আমি মনে করি।

          মাটির জীববৈচিত্র্য রক্ষা করে এর উর্বরতা বজায় রাখা দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ কৃষি উৎপাদনের জন্য অতীব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। পরিবর্তিত বৈশ্বিক জলবায়ু পরিস্থিতিতে টেকসই কৃষি উৎপাদনের ধারা অব্যাহত রাখা ও মাটির জীববৈচিত্র্য রক্ষা করা একটি বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ। আমরা কৃষিক্ষেত্রে ব্যাপক উন্নয়ন সাধন করেছি, যা বিশ্ব সম্প্রদায়ের নজর কেড়েছে। এমনকি মহামারি কোভিড-১৯ দুর্যোগের মধ্যেও বাংলাদেশের কৃষি নিরবচ্ছিন্নভাবে এদেশের বিপুল জনগোষ্ঠীর খাদ্য যোগানের পাশাপাশি অর্থনীতির চাকাকে সচল রাখতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রাখছে।

          মহান স্বাধীনতা অর্জনের পর হাজার বছরের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি, জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান কৃষি বিপ্লবের সূচনা করেছিলেন। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় ১৯৯৬ সালে আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার গঠনের পর পুনরায় কৃষির উন্নয়নে কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ ও বাস্তবায়ন শুরু করে। ফলে আধুনিক কৃষিতে যোগ হয়েছে উচ্চফলনশীল জাতের ফসল, যা অত্যন্ত কার্যকরি। ফসল চাষের নিবিড়তা বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে, খাদ্যোৎপাদন বেড়েছে কয়েক গুণ। ক্রমাগত বাড়তি ফসল উৎপাদনের তাগিদে মাটির ওপর চাপ বাড়ছে। আমরা এদেশের কৃষির আধুনিকায়ন ও যান্ত্রিকীকরণের ওপর জোর দিচ্ছি। কৃষির আধুনিকায়নের ফলে কৃষি উপকরণ হিসেবে
