যক্ষ্মা নির্মূলে সরকার সমন্বিত কর্মসূচি হাতে নিয়েছে

ভারত সফররত স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রী মোহাম্মদ নাসিম বলেছেন, ২০৩০ সালের মধ্যে যক্ষ্মা নির্মূলের লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ সরকার সমন্বিত বহুমুখী কর্মসূচি হাতে নিয়েছে। এই রোগ প্রতিরোধে দেশে উচ্চ পর্যায়ের তত্ত্বাবধান নিশ্চিত করার পাশাপাশি জাতীয় যক্ষ্মা পরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়নে বাজেট বরাদ্দ বাড়ানো হবে। 
    তিনি আজ ভারতের রাজধানী নয়াদিল্লীতে ‘যক্ষ্মা নির্মূলের লক্ষ্যে স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রীদের সম্মেলন’ এর সমাপনী দিনে ‘কল ফর অ্যাকশন’ ঘোষণা অধিবেশনের বক্তৃতায় এসব কথা বলেন। ভারতের স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী জেপি নাড্ডার সভাপতিত্বে অধিবেশনে ‘কল ফর অ্যাকশন’ ঘোষণা করেন বিশ^ স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশিয়া অঞ্চলের আঞ্চলিক পরিচালক ড. পুনম ক্ষেত্রপাল সিং।
    স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী যক্ষ্মা নির্মূলে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের রাজনৈতিক সদিচ্ছা এবং আন্তরিক অঙ্গীকার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করে বলেন, বাংলাদেশে যক্ষ্মা নিয়ন্ত্রণে বিশ^ স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা ও অন্য সহযোগীদের সাথে যৌথভাবে নেয়া কর্মসূচিগুলোর কার্যক্রম সরকার আরো জোরদার করবে। যক্ষ্মা নিয়ন্ত্রণে বাংলাদেশে জনসচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রম জোরদার করা হয়েছে। যক্ষ্মা সংক্রমণের কারণগুলো চিহ্নিত করে দারিদ্র্য বিমোচন, অপুষ্টি দূরীকরণ, স্বাস্থ্যকর জীবন যাপন উপযোগী পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার পাশাপাশি অন্যান্য আর্থ-সামাজিক চ্যালেঞ্জ দূর করার উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে সরকার। জনগণ এরই মধ্যে গৃহীত কার্যক্রমের সুফল পেতে শুরু করেছে। গত কয়েক বছরে যক্ষ্মা রোগ সনাক্তকরণ ও চিকিৎসার ক্ষেত্রে বাংলাদেশ অন্যান্য দেশের জন্য অনুসরণযোগ্য সাফল্য অর্জন করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে। তিনি এ সময় বাংলাদেশ থেকে পোলিও ও ধনুষ্টংকার নির্মূল এবং ইবোলা, জিকা ভাইরাস মোকাবেলায় সাফল্যের কথা তুলে ধরে বলেন, যক্ষ্মা নির্মূলে বাংলাদেশের বর্তমান সরকারের কর্মসূচিতে বিশ^ স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা ও উন্নয়ন সহযোগীদের সহায়তা অব্যাহত থাকলে শীঘ্রই বাংলাদেশকে যক্ষ্মামুক্ত ঘোষণা করা সম্ভব হবে। 
    যক্ষ্মা নির্মূলে দুইদিনব্যাপী স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রীদের সম্মেলন নয়াদিল্লীর হোটেল লা মেরিডিয়ানে গতকাল শুরু হয়। সিয়ারো অঞ্চলের ১১ দেশের স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী, সরকারের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ ছাড়াও বিশ^ ব্যাংক, গ্লোবাল ফান্ড, স্টপ টিবি পার্টনারশিপ, ইউএসএইড, ডিএফএটি-অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ অংশ নেন।
    স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী তিন সদস্য বিশিষ্ট প্রতিনিধিদলের নেতৃত্ব দিতে ১৪ মার্চ ভারত যান। তিনি আগামীকাল শুক্রবার দেশে ফিরবেন বলে আশা করা যাচ্ছে।

অর্গানিক খাদ্য উৎপাদন বাড়াতে হবে

খাদ্যমন্ত্রী এডভোকেট কামরুল ইসলাম বলেছেন, নিরাপদ খাদ্য নিশ্চিত করতে হলে অর্গানিক খাদ্যের উৎপাদন বাড়াতে হবে। অর্গানিক খাদ্যের উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধি নিরাপদ খাদ্য নিশ্চিত করার ক্ষেত্রে একটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ। 
আজ ঢাকার মতিঝিলে এফবিসিসিআই আয়োজিত ‘অর্গানিক ফুড : নিউ এরা অভ্ এগ্রি-বিজনেস’ শীর্ষক সেমিনারে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন। 
মন্ত্রী বলেন, নিরাপদ খাদ্য মানুষের সাংবিধানিক অধিকার। আর এ অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠায় বর্তমান সরকার কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। নিরাপদ খাদ্য কর্তৃপক্ষের কার্যক্রমের কথা তুলে ধরে তিনি বলেন, ২০১৩ সালে নিরাপদ খাদ্য আইন অনুমোদন দেয়া হয়েছে। ২০১৫ সালে বাংলাদেশ নিরাপদ খাদ্য কর্তৃপক্ষ গঠিত হয়। আইনটি শ্রীলঙ্কা ও ভারতের আদলে তৈরি করা হয়েছে। সে সব দেশেও আইনটি কার্যকর করতে তিন থেকে চার বছর সময় লেগেছে। বাংলাদেশে ইতোমধ্যে এ বিষয়ে অনেক অগ্রগতি হয়েছে। ১৮টি মন্ত্রণালয়ের সমন্বয়ে এ কর্তৃপক্ষ কাজ করছে। তিনি বলেন, শীঘ্রই প্রতিটি বিভাগে ১টি করে মোট ৮টি ল্যাবরেটরি প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হবে। সে সব ল্যাবরেটরিতে খাদ্য-দ্রব্যের মান পরীক্ষা করা হবে। 
খাদ্যমন্ত্রী আরো বলেন, উৎপাদনের জায়গা থেকে শুরু করে খাবার টেবিল পর্যন্ত নিরাপদভাবে খাদ্য সরবরাহ করতে হবে। খাদ্য উৎপাদনের সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাইকে দিতে হবে পর্যাপ্ত প্রশিক্ষণ। নিরাপদ খাদ্য নিশ্চিত করতে গড়ে তুলতে হবে সামাজিক আন্দোলন। আর এ ক্ষেত্রে মিডিয়াকেও সহায়ক ভুমিকা পালন করতে হবে। 
এফবিসিসিআই সভাপতি আব্দুল মাতলুব আহমাদ এর সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠিত কর্মশালায় বিভিন্ন ব্যবসায়ী সমিতির নেতৃবৃন্দ ও সাধারণ ভোক্তাগণ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

বঙ্গবন্ধুর জন্মবার্ষিকীতে ‘পিতা’র ত্রিমাত্রিক ভিডিও প্রদর্শনী

    জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে ১৭ মার্চ শুক্রবার রাজধানীর পান্থপথে স্টার সিনেপ্লেক্সে বিনামূল্যে জাতির পিতার ৭ মার্চের ভাষণের ত্রিমাত্রিক ভিডিওচিত্র ‘পিতা’র প্রদর্শনী আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। সকাল ১০টা থেকে দুপুর ১টা পর্যন্ত দেড় হাজার শিশু-কিশোরসহ আগ্রহীরা এ প্রদর্শনী উপভোগ করতে পারবে।
    ইতিহাসকে আধুনিক প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে যুগোপযোগী করে নূতন প্রজন্মের কাছে তুলে ধরতে তথ্যমন্ত্রীর বিশেষ উৎসাহে তথ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের সহযোগিতায় বিজ্ঞাপনী সংস্থা ‘মাত্রা’ প্রদর্শনীটির আয়োজন করেছে। এই ত্রিমাত্রিক ভিডিওচিত্র ‘পিতা’র প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজক বেসরকারি বাণিজ্যসংস্থা ওকে ওয়ার্ল্ড।

বঙ্গবন্ধুর জন্মদিনে বায়তুল মুকাররমসহ সারাদেশে কোরানখানি, মিলাদ ও দোয়া মাহফিল

জাতীয় শিশু দিবস ২০১৭ উপলক্ষে জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান এবং তাঁর পরিবারের শাহাদতবরণকারী সকল সদস্যের রূহের মাগফিরাত কামনা করে ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন আগামীকাল ১৭ মার্চ শুক্রবার সকাল ১০ টায় বায়তুল মুকাররম জাতীয় মসজিদে কোরানখানি, মিলাদ ও দোয়া মাহফিলের আয়োজন করেছে। উক্ত মিলাদ ও মুনাজাত পরিচালনা করবেন বায়তুল মুকাররম জাতীয় মসজিদের পেশ ইমাম হাফেজ মাওলানা এহসানুল হক।
     এছাড়া, সারাদেশে ৬০ হাজার ৩৮২ স্থানে অনুরূপভাবে কোরানখানি, মিলাদ ও দোয়া মাহফিল অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন কর্তৃক বাস্তবায়নাধীন মসজিদভিত্তিক শিশু ও গণশিক্ষা কার্যক্রম প্রকল্পের আওতায় প্রাক্-প্রাথমিক, বয়স্ক ও সহজ কোরান শিক্ষার মোট ৫৯ হাজার ৯৬৮টি কেন্দ্রে এবং ইসলামিক মিশনের আওতায় ১৯টি এবতেদায়ি মাদ্রাসা ও ৩৯৫টি মক্তবে ১৭ মার্চ শুক্রবার সকাল ৯ টায় এ কর্মসূচি পালিত হবে। 
একই দিনে গণশিক্ষা প্রকল্পের সকল কেন্দ্রে সকালে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন, শিশুদের র‌্যালি, বঙ্গবন্ধুর জীবন ও কর্মের ওপর আলোচনা সভা, হামদ্-নাত, গজল, কবিতা আবৃত্তি, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন থিম সং পরিবেশনসহ সকল মসজিদে ও গণশিক্ষার সকল কেন্দ্রে মিলাদ-ক্বিয়াম, দোয়া ও বিশেষ মুনাজাত অনুষ্ঠিত হবে।

স্পিকার গণতান্ত্রিক শাসন ব্যবস্থার ভিত্তিকে সুসংহত করতে এবং গণতান্ত্রিক অভিযাত্রায় বিশ্বের তরুণ সমাজকে আগ্রহী করে তুলতে সিপিএভূক্ত দেশসমূহকে একসাথে কাজ করার আহ্বান জানান। তিনি বলেন, এই তরুণ সমাজকে গণতান্ত্রিক মূল্যবোধের সাথে সম্পৃক্ত করে বিশ্ব শান্তি, সমৃদ্ধি ও মূল্যবোধ প্রতিষ্ঠায় কাজে লাগাতে হবে।

মানব পাচার বিষয়ে জাতিসংঘে উন্মুক্ত আলোচনায় বাংলাদেশ

    জাতিসংঘ নিরাপত্তা পরিষদে ১৫ মার্চ বুধবার অনুষ্ঠিত ‘ঞৎধভভরপশরহম রহ চবৎংড়হং রহ ঈড়হভষরপঃ ঝরঃঁধঃরড়হ: ঋড়ৎপবফ খধনড়ঁৎ, ঝষধাবৎু ধহফ ড়ঃযবৎ ঝরসরষধৎ চৎধপঃরপবং’ বিষয়ক উচ্চ পর্যায়ের এক উন্মুক্ত বিতর্কে জাতিসংঘে বাংলাদেশের স্থায়ী প্রতিনিধি ও রাষ্ট্রদূত মাসুদ বিন মোমেন মানব পাচারের বৈশ্বিক অভিশাপ প্রতিরোধে বাংলাদেশের প্রতিশ্রুতি পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেন।
রাষ্ট্রদূত বলেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার ব্যক্তিগত প্রতিশ্রুতির ফলেই বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় পর্যায়ে এই বৈশ্বিক অভিশাপ প্রতিরোধে ব্যাপক আইনগত, নীতিগত ও প্রশাসনিক পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করতে পেরেছে। মানব পাচার প্রতিরোধ ও দমন আইন, ২০১২ প্রণয়ন এবং এর বাস্তবায়নে ২০১৫-১৭ মেয়াদে জাতীয় কর্মপরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। এই কর্মপরিকল্পনার আওতায় উপজেলা, জেলা ও জাতীয় পর্যায়ে সরকারি-বেসরকারি অংশীদারিত্বে নিয়মিতভাবে এ সংক্রান্ত পর্যবেক্ষণ ও পারস্পরিক সমন্বয় চালু করা হয়েছে। এ বিষয়ে আমাদের সামর্থ্য আরো বৃদ্ধি করতে তথ্য সংগ্রহ ও ব্যবস্থাপনা, কার্যকর তথ্য প্রচারণা কৌশল, বিচার প্রক্রিয়া ও মানব পাচারের মামলাগুলোর দ্রুত নিষ্পত্তির ক্ষেত্রে আমরা বিশেষ দৃষ্টি দিয়েছি।
 আন্তর্জাতিক ও আঞ্চলিক ক্ষেত্রে বাংলাদেশের এ সংক্রান্ত বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপের কথা উল্লেখ করে রাষ্ট্রদূত বলেন, বাংলাদেশ টঘ ঈড়হাবহঃরড়হ ধমধরহংঃ ঞৎধহংহধঃরড়হধষ ঙৎমধহরংবফ ঈৎরসবং (টঘঞঙঈ) এর সদস্য। মানব পাচারের বিরুদ্ধে সংঘবদ্ধ সকল পক্ষের সাথেও বাংলাদেশ সক্রিয়ভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। আঞ্চলিক পর্যায়ে সার্ক ও বিমসটেকের আওতায় মানব পাচার প্রতিরোধ সহযোগিতা আরো সম্প্রসারিত করতে আমরা প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক সুযোগ বৃদ্ধির ওপরও জোর দিয়েছি। 
সংঘাতময় পরিস্থিতিতে মানবপাচার প্রতিরোধে স্থায়ী প্রতিনিধি এ সভায় পাঁচটি পরামর্শ তুলে ধরেন। এগুলো হল: ক) মানব পাচার সংক্রান্ত বিষয় পর্যবেক্ষণ ও সমন্বয়ের জন্য জাতিসংঘে একটি উচ্চ পর্যায়ের ফোকাল পয়েন্ট তৈরি করা খ) সংঘাতময় পরিস্থিতিসহ যে কোনো পরিস্থিতিতে মানব পাচার এবং এ সংশ্লিষ্ট অপরাধের শিকার ব্যক্তি/ব্যক্তিবর্গকে জাতিসংঘ কাউন্টার ট্রাফিকিং এজেন্ডার পুরোভাগে স্থান দেওয়া গ) টঘঞঙঈ এর আওতায় জাতীয় পর্যায়ে আইনগত পদক্ষেপ ও আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধি করা ঘ) মানব পাচার সংক্রান্ত আন্তর্জাতিক আইনগত বিষয়াদি ও বাধ্যবাধকতার ক্ষেত্রে প্রয়োজনীয় আইনি সহায়তা ও পরামর্শ প্রদান এবং ঙ) মানব পাচার ও সংশ্লিষ্ট অপরাধের মূল কারণ খুঁজে বের করা।
    মানব পাচার, দাসত্ব ও জোরপূর্বক শ্রমবৃত্তির বিরুদ্ধে জাতিসংঘের সমন্বিত যে কোনো পদক্ষেপকে আরো শক্তিশালী করতে বাংলাদেশ সকল সদস্য রাষ্ট্রের সাথে একযোগে কাজ করে যাবে মর্মে রাষ্ট্রদূত আবারও প্রতিশ্রুতি দেন।

Bangladesh urges US to grant DFQF market access 

Dhaka, 16 March : 

Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin met with Congressman Dave Reichert in Washington DC Wednesday and discussed issues of mutual interest with special focus on the Duty Free Quota Free (DFQF) market access to US for all the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

Dave Reichert is a Republican Congressman from Washington State and also the Chairman of the House Ways & Means Sub-Committee on Trade.

Ambassador Ziauddin apprised him of the sense of discrimination that prevails among fourteen LDCs for not getting DFQF market access to the USA. Currently 34 LDCs out of 48 are benefitting from US DFQF scheme under AGOA (African Growth and Opportunity Act).

The Ambassador further informed the Congressman that all the 48 LDCs get DFQF facility from the European Union. Therefore, he said it is a matter of justice and fairness that the US which is champion of human rights and rule of law should provide equal treatment to all.

            The Bangladesh envoy also highlighted development activities in Bangladesh in various sectors including Education, Women Empowerment and Counter-Terrorism. He informed the Congressman of the brutal past of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ‘zero tolerance’ policy against all forms of extremism and terrorism. He also mentioned the ongoing cooperation in counterterrorism between Bangladesh and its neighbours and the USA through intelligence sharing and other capacity building measures.

The Ambassador informed that more than four million garment workers in Bangladesh are women who are contributing to transforming society by alleviating poverty and containing the menace of extremism. Moreover, the Bangladesh government is modernizing its madrasa education system so the students can get rid of extremist ideas and can better adapt with society.

            The Ambassador observed if the USA provides DFQF trade facilities to Bangladesh, then Bangladesh will be able to export more to the USA, which would ensure more empowerment of women, more development in education sector and containment of extremism in Bangladesh by using its own resources.

            During an hour-long meeting Congressman Reichert agreed there should be fair trade among the countries. He suggested that a Congressional delegation can visit the LDCs including Bangladesh to explore further trade possibilities.

Toufique Hasan, Minister (Political) of the Embassy and Joshua Snead, Trade Counsel of the Subcommittee of Trade were present during the meeting.

    প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা ১৭ মার্চ জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ৯৭তম জন্মবার্ষিকী এবং জাতীয় শিশু দিবস উপলক্ষে নি¤েœাক্ত বাণী প্রদান করেছেন :
    “সর্বকালের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি, জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ৯৭তম জন্মবার্ষিকী এবং জাতীয় শিশু দিবস উপলক্ষে বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্মৃতির প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানাচ্ছি। দেশের সকল শিশুসহ দেশবাসীর প্রতি জানাচ্ছি আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা।
    গোপালগঞ্জ জেলার নিভৃত টুঙ্গিপাড়ায় ১৯২০ সালের ১৭ মার্চ প্রখ্যাত শেখ পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান। তাঁর পিতার নাম শেখ লুৎফর রহমান এবং মাতার নাম বেগম সায়রা খাতুন। ছয় ভাই-বোনের মধ্যে ছিলেন তৃতীয়। বাল্যকাল থেকেই বঙ্গবন্ধু ছিলেন নির্ভীক, দয়ালু এবং পরোপকারী। স্কুলে পড়ার সময়েই নেতৃত্বের গুণাবলী ফুটে উঠে তাঁর মধ্যে। ধীরে ধীরে তিনি হয়ে উঠেন বাংলার আবাল-বৃদ্ধ-বণিতার অধিকার আদায়ের শেষ আশ্রয়স্থল।
    প্রখর স্মৃতিশক্তির অধিকারী ও দূরদৃষ্টিসম্পন্ন এই বিশ্বনেতার সুদীর্ঘ রাজনৈতিক জীবনের মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল বাঙালি জাতিকে পরাধীনতার শৃঙ্খল থেকে মুক্ত করা। জাতির পিতা বাংলা ভাষার মর্যাদা প্রতিষ্ঠার লড়াইয়ে নেতৃত্বদেন। ১৯৪৮ সালে তাঁর প্রস্তাবে ছাত্রলীগ, তমদ্দুন মজলিশ ও অন্যান্য ছাত্র সংগঠনের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত হয় রাষ্ট্রভাষা সংগ্রাম পরিষদ। ১৯৪৮ সালের ১১ মার্চ বাংলাকে রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে স্বীকৃতির দাবিতে সাধারণ ধর্মঘট পালনকালে বঙ্গবন্ধুকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। ১৯৪৮ থেকে ১৯৫২ পর্যন্ত তিনি বারবার কারারুদ্ধ হন। কখনও জেলে থেকে কখনওবা জেলের বাইরে থেকে জাতির পিতা ভাষা আন্দোলনের নেতৃত্ব দেন। ১৯৫২ সালের ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারির বিয়োগান্তক ঘটনার সময় বঙ্গবন্ধু অন্তরীণ অবস্থা থেকে দিক-নির্দেশনা প্রদান করেন। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় ’৫৪-এর যুক্তফ্রন্ট নির্বাচন, ’৫৮-এর আইয়ুব খানের সামরিক শাসনবিরোধী আন্দোলন, ’৬২-এর শিক্ষা কমিশনবিরোধী আন্দোলন, ’৬৬-এর ছয়দফা, ’৬৮-এর আগরতলা ষড়যন্ত্র মামলা, ’৬৯-এর গণঅভ্যুত্থান, ’৭০-এর নির্বাচন এবং একাত্তরের মুক্তিযুদ্ধ জাতির পিতার অবিসংবাদিত নেতৃত্বে পরিচালিত হয়।
    জাতির পিতার ঐন্দ্রজালিক নেতৃত্ব এবং সম্মোহনী ব্যক্তিত্ব সমগ্র জাতিকে একসূত্রে গ্রথিত করেছিল। যার ফলে আমরা পেয়েছি স্বাধীন, সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশ। বিকাশ ঘটেছে বাঙালি জাতিসত্তার। বঙ্গবন্ধু শুধু বাঙালি জাতিরই নয়, তিনি ছিলেন বিশ্বের সকল নিপীড়িত-শোষিত-বঞ্চিত মানুষের অধিকার আদায় ও মুক্তির অগ্রনায়ক। তিনি যখন স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের পুনর্গঠন কাজে আত্মনিয়োগ করেন, তখন ১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট স্বাধীনতার পরাজিত শক্তি ষড়যন্ত্রের মাধ্যমে তাঁকে সপরিবারে হত্যা করে। এর মধ্যদিয়ে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনা, বাংলাদেশের গণতান্ত্রিক অগ্রযাত্রা ও উন্নয়নকে স্তব্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়। অবৈধ সামরিক সরকারগুলো বিশ্বের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ সংবিধানকে ক্ষত-বিক্ষত করে। স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী, যুদ্ধাপরাধী ও প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল শক্তিতে পুনর্বাসন করে। জনগণ ভাত ও ভোটের অধিকার থেকে বঞ্চিত হয়। মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইতিহাস বিকৃত করা হয়।
    বঙ্গবন্ধু হত্যার বিচারের রায় কার্যকর করার মধ্যদিয়ে বাঙালি জাতি আজ দায়মুক্ত হয়েছে। একাত্তরের মানবতাবিরোধী যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের রায়ও কার্যকর করা হচ্ছে। স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী সাম্প্রদায়িক গোষ্ঠী এবং উন্নয়ন ও গণতন্ত্রবিরোধী শক্তির সকল ষড়যন্ত্র প্রতিহত করে জাতির পিতার অসমাপ্ত কাজ সমাপ্ত করতে আমরা বদ্ধপরিকর।
    শিশুদের প্রতি বঙ্গবন্ধুর মমতা ছিল অপরিসীম। তাই তাঁর জন্মদিনকে শিশুদের জন্য উৎসর্গ করে আমরা ‘জাতীয় শিশু দিবস’ ঘোষণা করেছি। এদিনে আমি মহান আল্লাহর কাছে জাতির পিতার বিদেহী আত্মার মাগফিরাত এবং আগামীদিনের কর্ণধার শিশু-কিশোরদের উজ্জ্বল ভবিষ্যৎ কামনা করছি। 
    আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার প্রিয় মাতৃভূমিকে শিশুদের জন্য নিরাপদ আবাসভূমিতে পরিণত করতে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ। শিশুদের মনে দেশপ্রেম জাগ্রত করে তাদের ব্যক্তিত্ব গঠন, সৃজনশীলতার বিকাশ এবং আত্মবিশ্বাসী করে গড়ে তুলতে দলমতনির্বিশেষে সকলকে একযোগে কাজ করতে হবে। তাদের বাংলাদেশ ও জাতির পিতার সংগ্রামী জীবনের প্রকৃত ইতিহাস জানাতে হবে।
    আসুন, শিশুদের কল্যাণে আমাদের বর্তমানকে উৎসর্গ করি। সবাই মিলে জাতির পিতার অসাম্প্রদায়িক, ক্ষুধা-দারিদ্র্যমুক্ত ও সুখী-সমৃদ্ধ স্বপ্নের ‘সোনার বাংলা’ গড়ে তুলি। আজকের দিনে এই হোক আমাদের অঙ্গীকার।
জয় বাংলা, জয় বঙ্গবন্ধু
বাংলাদেশে চিরজীবী হোক।”

Prime Minister’s Message on the occasion of the

97^th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day

Dhaka, 16 March :   

            Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the following message on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 97^th birth anniversary and National Children’s Day : 

"I pay my deep homage to the greatest Bangali of all time, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 97^th birth anniversary and National Children’s Day. I convey my best wishes to the countrymen, especially the children, on this auspicious day.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born in the illustrious Sheikh family at Tungipara in Gopalganj district on 17 March 1920. His father’s name is Sheikh Lutfar Rahman and mother’s name is Begum Saira Khatun. He was the third among six children of his parents. From his boyhood, he was fearless, kind and generous. The leadership quality had flourished during his school days. Gradually, he became the last resort to realise the righteous demands of the people of Bangladesh.

Having keen memory and vision, the aim of Bangabandhu’s long career was to free the Bangali nation from the shackle of subjugation. The Father of the Nation led the movement to establish the state language. In 1948, State Language Movement Council was constituted comprising Tamuddun Majlish, Student League and other student bodies as per a proposal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangabandhu was arrested as a general strike was enforced on 11 March 1948 to realise the demand for recognising Bangla as the state language. He was arrested time and again from 1948 to 1952. Bangabandhu led the Language Movement from both inside and outside the jail. During the tragic incident of 21 February 1952, Bangabandhu gave directives from his internment. In continuation of the movement, the election of United Front in 1954, the anti-martial law movement against the military junta Ayub Khan in 1958, the movement against Education Commission in 1962, the historic 6-point movement of 1966, Agartala conspiracy case of 1968, mass upsurge in1969, general elections in 1970 and the indepedence war of 1971 were carried under the undisputed leadership of Bangabandhu.

The charismatic leadership and personality of the Father of the Nation brought the whole nation under one umbrella. As a result, we got the independence and sovereign Bangladesh. The Bangali nationalism got flourished. Bangabandhu was not only the leader of the Bangali but also a forerunner in realising the rights of the oppressed and deprived masses of the world. When he devoted himself to rebuild the country, the anti-liberation and reactionary forces brutally assassinated him along with most of his family members on 15 August 1975. The spirit of the war of liberation, Bangladesh’s democratic march and development spree were halted by the heinous killings. The illegal military rulers then defaced the country’s constitution, which was one of the finest constitutions of the world. They rehabilitated the anti-liberation war criminals and reactionary forces. The countrymen were deprived of their rights to life and vote. The history of independence and freedom struggle was distorted.

The Bangali nation was freed from the stigma through the execution of the capital punishment pronounced by the highest court of the country in the Bangabandhu killing case. The trials of war criminals are now on going and verdicts against the war criminals are being executed. We are committed to materlising the unfinished tasks of Bangabandhu defeating the conspiracies of anti-liberation and undemocratic forces.

Bangabandhu had a limitless love for the children. That is why, the day of his birth has been declared as the National Children’s Day. On this day, I pray to the Almighty Allah for the peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and for the prosperous future of our children and juveniles.

The Awami League government is pledge-bound to make our beloved motherland as a safe habitat for the children. All, irrespective of party affiliation or opinion, have to work together to build the children developing their self-confidence, flourishing their patriotism and creativity, and building their personality. They would have to be inspired to learn the history of Bangladesh and the struggling life of the Father of the Nation.

Let us sacrifice our present for the welfare of our children’s future. Let us join our hands to build a non-communal, hunger-poverty free and happy-prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by the Father of the Nation. On the day, this is our commitment.

President's message on the occasion of the 98^th birthday of

Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day

Dhaka, 16 March : 

            President Md. Abdul Hamid has given the following message on the occasion of the 98^th birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day :   

            "On the occasion of the 98^th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as well as National Children’s Day, I pay my profound respect to the memory of the greatest leader. On this auspicious day, I also convey my heartfelt greetings and felicitations to the children of Bangladesh and the world as well.

            Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an undisputed leader of the Bangali, the dreamer of independent and sovereign Bangladesh, Father of the Nation, was born in Tungipara of Gopalganj district on 17 March 1920. Since his boyhood, the most distinguished great man was very kind-hearted and generous, but uncompromising on attaining rights. The leadership quality of Sheikh Mujib was noticed from his school life. As a young student leader in the early forties of the last century, he actively participated in politics, coming close association with the then legendary leaders Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy and Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Haque. He was a dreamer of Bangali nation and an ardent proponent of Bangali nationalism. The visionary leader led the nation in every movement towards attaining democracy and autonomy including the Language Movement in 1952, Jukta-Front Election in 1954, movement against Martial Law in 1958, Six-Point Movement in 1966, Mass Upsurge in 1969 and the General Elections in 1970.  For this, he was sent to Jail several times and had to bear inhuman sufferings. Despite manifold challenges, he never compromised with the Pakistani rulers on the question of establishing rights of the Bangali. Crossing many acclivity and declivity, finally, he declared country’s independence on March 26, 1971. Responding to his clarion call, the people from all strata participated in the War of Liberation in 1971 and achieved their ultimate victory on December 16, 1971 through a nine-month long armed struggle. For his extraordinary contributions towards achieving Independence, Bangabandhu and Bangladesh thus emerged as a unique symbol to the people of Bangladesh. He would remain as an ever surpassing personality in society, nation and in the contemporary world for his outstanding leadership quality and works. He is the symbol of independence and the harbinger of freedom not only for the Bangali but also for the down-trodden and oppressed people of the world.

            Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, always dreamt of building a happy and prosperous Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal). We have to build our young generation as worthy citizens to materialize Bangabandhu’s dream of transforming our country into ‘Sonar-Bangla’. We have to render our sincere endeavour to our children for flourishing the intrinsic values from very childhood.  We have to make our generation as enlightened citizens through providing proper education and knowledge and igniting them with the deep sense of patriotism so that they can make themselves as worthy citizens and love the country and its people.

            I welcome government’s initiative to observe the `National Children’s Day on the occasion of birthday of Bangabandhu. Our new generation will be able to know the life and works of Bangabandhu through observing the day and will contribute to building the nation imbued with the spirit of patriotism. I urge all, irrespective of party affiliation, to take united efforts for building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh and ensuring bright future of our children.

            Bangabandhu is the eternal source of our inspiration and he will remain among ourselves forever for his noble deeds and ideals. I pray to the Almighty for the salvation of the departed soul of Father of The Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 98^th birthday.

    “জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ৯৮তম জন্মদিবস ও জাতীয় শিশু দিবস ২০১৭ উপলক্ষে আমি এ মহান নেতার স্মৃতির প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানাই। দিবসটি উপলক্ষে আমি বাংলাদেশসহ বিশ্বের সকল শিশু-কিশোরকে জানাই আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা ও অভিনন্দন।
    স্বাধীন-সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশের রূপকার বাঙালি জাতির অবিসংবাদিত নেতা জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান ১৯২০ সালের ১৭ মার্চ গোপালগঞ্জের টুঙ্গিপাড়ায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। ক্ষণজন্মা এই মহাপুরুষ শৈশব থেকেই ছিলেন অত্যন্ত হৃদয়বান ও মানবদরদি কিন্তু অধিকার আদায়ে ছিলেন আপোশহীন। স্কুল জীবন থেকেই তাঁর মধ্যে নেতৃত্বের গুণাবলি পরিলক্ষিত হয়। চল্লিশের দশকে এই তরুণ ছাত্রনেতা হোসেন শহিদ সোহ্রাওয়ার্দী ও শেরে বাংলা এ কে ফজলুল হকের সংস্পর্শে এসে সক্রিয় রাজনীতিতে সম্পৃক্ত হন। তিনি ছিলেন বাঙালি জাতির স্বপ্নদ্রষ্টা এবং বাঙালি জাতীয়তাবাদের প্রবক্তা। ’৫২ এর ভাষা আন্দোলন, ’৫৪ এর যুক্তফ্রন্ট নির্বাচন, ’৫৮ এর সামরিক শাসনবিরোধী আন্দোলন, ’৬৬ এর ৬-দফা, ’৬৯ এর গণঅভ্যুত্থান, ’৭০ এর নির্বাচনসহ বাঙালির মুক্তি ও অধিকার আদায়ে পরিচালিত প্রতিটি গণতান্ত্রিক ও স্বাধিকার আন্দোলনে তিনি নেতৃত্ব দেন। এজন্য তাঁকে বহুবার কারাবরণ করতে হয়েছে; সহ্য করতে হয়েছে অমানুষিক নির্যাতন। বাঙালির অধিকারের প্রশ্নে তিনি কখনো আপোশ করেননি। নানা চড়াই-উৎরাই পেরিয়ে ১৯৭১ সালের ২৬ মার্চ বঙ্গবন্ধু স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণা দেন। তাঁর আহ্বানে সাড়া দিয়ে দেশের আপামর জনগণ মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের মাধ্যমে অর্জন করে বহু কাক্সিক্ষত স্বাধীন-সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশ। তাঁর অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য আজ দেশের মানুষের কাছে বাংলাদেশ ও বঙ্গবন্ধু এক ও অভিন্ন সত্তায় পরিণত হয়েছে। তিনি নিজগুণে ও কর্মে সমাজ, দেশ ও সমকালীন বিশ্বে চির ভাস্বর হয়ে আছেন। তিনি কেবল বাঙালির নন, বিশ্বে নিপীড়িত-শোষিত মানুষের স্বাধীনতার প্রতীক, মুক্তির দূত। 
    স্বাধীনতার মহান স্থপতি বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান সবসময় সুখী-সমৃদ্ধ সোনার বাংলা গড়ার স্বপ্ন দেখতেন। সেই স্বপ্ন  বাস্তবায়নে আমাদের নতুন প্রজন্মকে সোনার মানুষ হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে হবে। শৈশব থেকেই তাদের মধ্যে চারিত্রিক গুণাবলির উন্মেষ ঘটাতে হবে। জ্ঞান-গরিমা, শিক্ষা-দীক্ষা, সততা, দেশপ্রেম ও নিষ্ঠাবোধ জাগ্রত করার মাধ্যমে তাদের আলোকিত মানুষ হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে হবে। তারা যাতে নিজেদের গড়ার পাশাপাশি দেশ ও মানুষকে ভালোবাসতে শেখে এবং দেশের কল্যাণে কাজ করতে পারে সেভাবেই তাদেরকে গড়ে তুলতে হবে।
    বঙ্গবন্ধুর জš§দিনকে জাতীয় শিশু দিবস হিসেবে পালনের উদ্যোগকে আমি সাধুবাদ জানাই। কারণ এ দিবসটি উদ্যাপনের মধ্যদিয়ে নতুন প্রজন্ম বঙ্গবন্ধুর জীবন ও আদর্শ সম্পর্কে জানতে পারবে এবং দেশপ্রেমের চেতনায় উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়ে আগামীতে জাতিগঠনে অবদান রাখতে সক্ষম হবে। শিশুদের সুন্দর ভবিষ্যৎ এবং সুখী-সমৃদ্ধ বাংলাদেশ গড়তে আমি দলমত নির্বিশেষে সবাইকে একযোগে কাজ করার আহ্বান জানাই।
    বঙ্গবন্ধু আমাদের চিরন্তন প্রেরণার উৎস। তাঁর কর্ম ও আদর্শ আমাদের মাঝে বেঁচে থাকবে চিরকাল। আমি জাতির পিতার ৯৮তম জন্মদিবসে তাঁর আত্মার মাগফিরাত কামনা করি। 
    খোদা হাফেজ, বাংলাদেশ চিরজীবী হোক।”
