Bangladesh India Customs Officials meet in New Delhi
New Delhi (India), February 5 :
The 10th meeting of the Joint Group of Customs (JGC) between the Government of Bangladesh and Government of India was held in New Delhi today.
Md. Farid Uddin, Member, National Board of Revenue led the Bangladesh delegation while the Indian side was led by Najib Shah, Director General, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
During the meeting both sides had constructive discussions on further promotion and facilitation of trade between the two countries. The meeting agreed to improve infrastructural facilities including installation of testing and warehouse facilities in all 16 land ports along the borders of the two countries. They also took several decisions to remove administrative complexities and operational barriers for quicker passage of goods through the ports.
The meeting decided that from now on, India and Bangladesh will share intelligence information to prevent smuggling of goods, narcotics & psychotropic drugs etc. It was also decided that the standards organization of India and Bangladesh will meet soon to sort out unresolved standardization issues between the two countries.

MoU signed
BOPP factory to be established through BD-Thailand joint venture
Dhaka, February 5 :
Bangladesh’s leading industrial business house “Meghna Group”and Thailand’s front line corporate house “PM Group” yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing a US$ 150 million
Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) factory in Bangladesh through a joint venture initiative.
Chairman of Meghna Group Mostafa Kamal signed the MoU on behalf of the Meghna Group while Chief Executive of the PM Group of Thailand Chalermchai Mahagitsiri signed it on behalf of the PM Group. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand and Cambodia Saida Muna Tasneem.
