বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনের উদ্যোগে শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে চিত্রাংকন প্রতিযোগিতা অনুণ্ঠিত

বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশন, কলম্বো এবং শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের যৌথ আয়োজনে আজ শ্রীলংকা শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের মিলনায়তনে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস ২০২১ উপলক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতার পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষামন্ত্রী প্রফেসর জি এল পেইরিস এবং বিশেষ অতিথি ছিলেন শ্রীলংকায় নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের হাইকমিশনার তারেক মোঃ আরিফুল ইসলাম এবং শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষা সচিব প্রফেসর কাপিলা পেরেরা। অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে দুই দেশের জাতীয় সঙ্গীত বাজানো হয় এবং দিবসটি উপলক্ষে হাইকমিশন কর্তৃক নির্মিত একটি প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়।  

 

উল্লেখ্য, আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস ২০২১ উপলক্ষে বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনের উদ্যোগে শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় হাইব্রিড পদ্ধতিতে বিগত ৮ থেকে ১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২১ শ্রীলংকার স্কুলের শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে উক্ত চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করে। এতে করোনা মহামারি পরিস্থিতির মধ্যেও উল্লেখ্যযোগ্য সংখ্যক প্রতিযোগী অংশগ্রহণ করে। আজকের এ অনুষ্ঠানে হাইকমিশনের পক্ষ হতে অংশগ্রহণকারী সকল প্রতিযোগীদের মধ্যে সার্টিফিকেট এবং প্রতিযোগিতায় ১ম, ২য় এবং ৩য় স্থান অধিকারীদেরকে বিশেষ পুরস্কার প্রদান করা হয়। উল্লেখ, চলমান করোনা মহামারির কারণে স্থানীয় শিক্ষা-প্রতিষ্ঠান বন্ধ থাকার কারণে পুরস্কার বিতরণীর এই অনুষ্ঠান ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারিতে আয়োজন সম্ভবপর হয়নি।

 

স্বাগত বক্তব্যে শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষা সচিব চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতা আয়োজনের জন্য বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনকে ধন্যবাদ জানান এবং এর ধারাবাহিকতা বজায় রাখার বিষয়ে তাঁর মন্ত্রণালয়ের সহযোগিতার বিষয়টি পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেন। বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্যে হাইকমিশনার তারেক ইসলাম মাতৃভাষা বাংলার মর্যাদা রক্ষায় বাংলাদেশের ভাষা শহীদদের আত্মত্যাগের বিষয়টি তুলে ধরেন। তিনি মাতৃভাষার মাধ্যমে বিশ্ব শান্তি ও ভ্রাতৃত্ববোধ বজায় রাখার জন্য উপস্থিত সকলের প্রতি আহ্বান জানান। শিক্ষামন্ত্রী প্রফেসর পেইরিস প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে মাতৃভাষার মূল্যবোধ এবং মর্যাদা রক্ষায় সকলের মধ্যে সংহতিবোধ জাগ্রতকরণের আহবান জানান। তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে চিত্রাঙ্কন বিষয়ে আগ্রহের প্রশংসা করে বলেন চিত্রাঙ্কন একটি সার্বজনীন ভাষা। তিনি আরো বলেন, ভাষার কোন সীমা নেই, এটি অবারিত, তাই এর সংরক্ষণে সকলকে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করতে হবে।

 

পুরস্কার বিতরণীর এই আয়োজনটি শ্রীলংকার করোনা সংক্রান্ত স্বাস্থ্য বিধি মেনে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে ছাত্র-ছাত্রী শিক্ষক, অভিভাবকসহ শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের সকল স্তরের কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। সকলে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের তাৎপর্য শ্রীলংকার শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে বিস্তারের জন্য বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনকে সাধুবাদ জানান।

Bangladesh Ambassador meets with the Deputy Defense Minister of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, 9 April :

Md. Zahangir Alam, Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan met today with the Deputy Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan Colonel Hamdam Karshiyev Alikulovich at the Academy of Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

Bangladesh Ambassador apprised the Deputy Defense Minister that Bangladesh is imparting world class training and education to the defense and сivil officials of many countries around the globe and Uzbekistan Armed Forces and сivil officials also may obtain training in Bangladesh defense academies. The Deputy Minister was requested to visit Bangladesh Armed Forces education and training establishments. The Minister showed his interest to visit Bangladesh and start defense cooperation between two friendly Muslim countries.

During the meeting, the Chief of the Academy of Armed Forces of Uzbekistan Colonel Shavkat Mamajanov was also present.

Bangladesh and US to work together to address the challenge of climate change

Dhaka, 9 April :

            Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen sought US support for increasing global climate ambition and commitment to accelerate implementation of the Paris Agreement during his meeting today with the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry. 

            During the meeting, the Foreign Minister recalled United States’ crucial role to the successful adoption of the Paris Accord and appreciated Biden government’s decision to return to the global climate negotiations which would create momentum to advance global climate progress. He also referred to the crucial contribution of Mr. Kerry for concluding the Paris Accord in 2015, and mentioned that Bangladesh had closely worked with the US delegation at that time. He expressed hope that under the leadership of the US, the developed countries would come forward with ambitious actions to limit the global warming at 1.5 degree Celsius.

            John Kerry and Foreign Minister had a substantive exchange of views on possible areas of Bangladesh-US climate collaboration in mitigation, adaptation and renewable energy through technology transfer, capacity building and climate finance. Dr. Momen highlighted Bangladesh’s low carbon development path with increasing emphasis on renewable energy and energy efficiency and underlined Bangladesh government’s key initiatives including Climate Change Trust Fund, National Solar Energy Roadmap, National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA), ‘Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan’ to achieve low carbon economic growth. He further added that Bangladesh was reviewing the potential to enhance its mitigation ambition to submit a quantified ambitious NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) by June 2021. Bangladesh submitted an interim NDC on 31 December 2020.

            John Kerry highly appreciated Bangladesh’s excellent adaptation and mitigation efforts. He said that Bangladesh had shown amazing resilience to climate change despite many adversities.  He also praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her leadership in the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).     

            While discussing about the upcoming COP26 in Glasgow in November this year, Foreign Minister Momen reiterated the significance of the promised international financial flow at and beyond US$100 billion annually to support sustainable development and energy transformations of the developing economies, and he stressed that the funding should be distributed at 50:50 ratio between mitigation and adaptation. He also mentioned at the same time that adaptation without mitigation is not a good strategy. On the issue of the national determined contribution (NDC), Foreign Minister Momen emphasized on behalf of Bangladesh as well as on behalf of the CVF that all countries need to work hard to fulfill their NDCs at the soonest. He also requested for high level presence from the US government at the CVF-COP26 event, planned to be held on the sidelines of the COP26 to secure a recovery package for the climate vulnerable countries.

            Dr. Momen said that Bangladesh has emerged as a global leader in climate change adaptation which was possible for systematic investment in the adaption measures.  He further raised the issue of 'loss and damage' due to climatic events, including displacement of people from river erosion, sea level rise and increasing of salinity in the coastal areas.

            While discussing bilateral cooperation in the area of climate change, Foreign Minister Momen requested for US support in renewable energy, including investment from the US companies in the renewable energy sector of Bangladesh. Dr. Momen also requested for US assistance in afforestation. He sought support for reconstruction and widening of embankments around the rivers to stop erosion, and also afforestation along the embankments, and in the Southern region of Bangladesh. The issue of rehabilitation of the population displaced because of river erosion and also from the coastal areas because of the sea-level rise was discussed, and Foreign Minister sought US support in this regard. Dr. Momen also informed Mr. Kerry that on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Government has planted 11.5 million trees, and in total around 30 million trees are being planted all over Bangladesh this year. Foreign Minister informed about the establishment of the regional office of the Global Centre for Adaptation (GCA) in Dhaka in October 2020 for sharing of local adaptation strategies in the region, and asked for US support for the Centre.

ব্রিটেনের রানি দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথের স্বামীর মৃত্যুতে আইনমন্ত্রীর শোক

          ব্রিটেনের রানি দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথের স্বামী ডিউক অভ্ এডিনবরা প্রিন্স ফিলিপের মৃত্যুতে গভীর শোক ও দুঃখ প্রকাশ করেছেন  আইন, বিচার ও সংসদ বিষয়ক মন্ত্রী আনিসুল হক ।

          আইনমন্ত্রী আজ এক শোকবার্তায় প্রিন্স ফিলিপের বিদেহী আত্মার শান্তি  কামনা করেন এবং তাঁর শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবারের সদস্যদের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জানান।

          উল্লেখ্য, প্রিন্স ফিলিপ গ্রিসের করফু দ্বীপে ১৯২১ সালের ১০ জুন জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। ১৯৪৭ সালে রানি দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথের সঙ্গে তাঁর বিয়ে হয়। এর পাঁচ বছর পর ব্রিটেনের সিংহাসনে আরোহণ করেন রানি দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথ। প্রিন্স ফিলিপ ও রানি দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথের চার জন সন্তান রয়েছে।

প্রবীণ রাজনীতিবিদ আবুল হাশেমের মৃত্যুতে রাষ্ট্রপতির শোক

          প্রবীণ রাজনীতিবিদ, শিক্ষানুরাগী, দানবীর এবং মুরাদনগর-হোমনা-দেবিদ্দার থেকে নির্বাচিত সাবেক গণপরিষদ সদস্য আলহাজ্ব মোঃ আবুল হাশেমের মৃত্যুতে গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করেছেন রাষ্ট্রপতি মোঃ আবদুল হামিদ।

          আজ এক শোকবার্তায় রাষ্ট্রপতি বলেন, আলহাজ্ব আবুল হাশেমের মৃত্যু দেশের রাজনৈতিক অঙ্গনের জন্য অপূরণীয় ক্ষতি। দেশে শিক্ষা বিস্তারে তিনি অত্যন্ত প্রশংসনীয় ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন।

          রাষ্ট্রপতি মরহুম আবুল হাশেমের রুহের মাগফিরাত কামনা করেন এবং তাঁর শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবারের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জানান।

          আলহাজ্ব আবুল হাশেম আজ বেলা ১১ টায় ঢাকা শ্যামলীস্থ নিজ বাসভবনে বার্ধক্যজনিত কারণে মৃত্যুবরণ করেন। মৃত্যুকালে তার বয়স হয়েছিল ৯৯ বছর।

কোভিড-১৯ (করোনা ভাইরাস) সংক্রান্ত সর্বশেষ প্রতিবেদন

 ‌           স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর এবং রোগতত্ত্ব, রোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠান (আইইডিসিআর)-এর তথ্যানুযায়ী গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় দেশে ৩১ হাজার ৬৫৪ জনের নমুনা পরীক্ষা করে ৭ হাজার ৪৬২ জনের শরীরে করোনা সংক্রমণ পাওয়া গেছে। এ নিয়ে বাংলাদেশে এখন পর্যন্ত কোভিড-১৯ আক্রান্ত রোগীর সংখ্যা ৬ লাখ ৭৩ হাজার ৫৯৪ জন।

 

          গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় ৬৩ জন-সহ এ পর্যন্ত ৯ হাজার ৫৮৪ জন এ রোগে মৃত্যুবরণ করেছেন।

 

          করোনা ভাইরাস আক্রান্তদের মধ্যে এখন পর্যন্ত সুস্থ হয়েছেন ৫ লাখ ৬৮ হাজার ৫৪১ জন।

          তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি প্রতিমন্ত্রী জুনাইদ আহমেদ পলক বলেছেন, বিশ্ব ক্রমবর্ধমান ডেটা এবং প্রযুক্তি নির্ভর হয়ে উঠেছে। দ্রুত পরিবর্তনশীল এ সময়ে বাংলাদেশের অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধি ও সমৃদ্ধিতে রোবটিক প্রসেস অটমেশন (আরপিএ) ব্যবহারে অ্যাকাউন্টিং পেশাদারদের উপস্থাপিত সুযোগগুলো নীতি নির্ধারণে সঠিকভাবে কাজে লাগানোর উপায় খুঁজে বের করতে হবে ।

          প্রতিমন্ত্রী গতকাল ইনস্টিটিউট অভ চার্টার্ড অ্যাকাউন্ট্যান্টস অভ বাংলাদেশ (আইসিএবি) আয়োজিত ‘ট্রান্সফর্মিং ফাইনান্স এন্ড একাউন্টিং উইথ রোবটিক প্রসেস অটোমেশন’ শীর্ষক একটি আন্তর্জাতিক ওয়েবিনারে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় এসব কথা বলেন।

          তিনি বলেন, আরপিএ ব্যবসায়িক কার্যক্রম এবং প্রবিধানের সাথে সংগতিপূর্ণ প্রক্রিয়াকে সুসংহত করবে। রোবোটিক প্রসেস অটোমেশন, ওয়েব এবং অন্যান্য ডেস্কটপ অ্যাপ্লিকেশনগুলো ব্যবসায়িক কার্যকলাপকে আরো দ্রুত করবে। তিনি বলেন, কোভিড-১৯ মহামারির সময়ে শারীরিক দূরত্ব বজায় রেখে কার্য সম্পাদনে আমাদের ডিজিটাল নির্ভর অর্ন্তভুক্তি আরো বেশি করে তুলবে। এসব ডিজিটাল প্রযুক্তিগত অবকাঠামো গড়ার লক্ষ্যে সরকার কাজ করে যাচ্ছে।

          কোভিড মহামারিকালীন ব্যবসায়ের সক্ষমতা বাড়ানোর জন্য আরপিএ অপরিহার্য উল্লেখ করে প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, বিশ্ব এখন দ্রুত রোবটিক প্রোসেস অটোমেশন ছাপিয়ে ইন্টেলিজেন্ট হাইপার অটোমেশনে চলে যাচ্ছে।

          সম্মেলনে মূলপ্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন ভারত ও দক্ষিণ এশিয়া বিজনেস এর ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট আনষুমান রাই, ইপিএস গ্লোবাল সার্ভিসেস এর ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট ক্রিশ্চিয়ান এসমাইজার এবং ফিনান্স অ্যান্ড অ্যাকাউন্টিং-ইন্ডাস্ট্রি প্র্যাকটিস লীডার অরুন প্রসাদ রাম।          স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন আইসিএবির প্রেসিডেন্ট মাহমুদ-উল হাসান খসরু এবং অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালণায় ছিলেন আইসিএবি সাবেক প্রেসিডেন্ট ও গ্রান্ট থর্টন কনসাল্টিং বাংলাদেশ লিমিটেডের ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর দেওয়ান নুরুল ইসলাম।

BD Finance signs MoU with US-based Sovereign Infrastructure Group

Washington DC, 9 April : 

            Bangladesh Finance and Investment Company Yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Sovereign Infrastructure Group (SIG), a global financing company that works with project sponsors and Multilateral Development Banks and national and local governments.

            Among others, Bangladesh Ambassador to the US M. Shahidul Islam and Chairman of BD Finance Manwar Hossain witnessed the signing of the MoU in the Embassy auditorium. The MoU is expected to mobilize up to US$2 bn for infrastructural projects in Bangladesh in the next two years. This development took place following the launching of the US-Bangladesh Business Council by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 6 April. 

            Managing Director and CEO of BD Finance Kyeser Hamid and Co-Founder and CEO of SIG Lerry J. Knox signed the memorandum on behalf of their respective parties. According to the MoU, SIG will invest, in both debt and equity, in government and PPP projects, SEZs, and EPZs in Bangladesh, while BD Finance will work as representative of the SIG in Bangladesh.

            In the signing ceremony, SIG CEO Lerry Knox said, 'Bangladesh is currently on track to invest an impressive $417 billion in infrastructure by 2040. Through our engagement with BD Finance, SIG hopes to play a leading role with our partners to support the country’s tremendous growth.'  In his remarks, BD Finance Chairman Manwar Hossain said, 'this is the largest foreign investment effort by a financial institution in Bangladesh. This is our way of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Independence.'

          Ambassador Shahidul Islam expressed hope that the MoU, by setting a purposeful collaboration framework, would benefit Bangladeshi clients as well as both SIG and BD Finance.

            DMD of Anwar Group of Industries Waeez Hossain and Vice President of SIG Benjamin Levine also spoke on the occasion.

শ্রমিকদের নিরাপদ রাখতে কলকারখানা পরিদর্শনে সংশ্লিষ্টদের নির্দেশ শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রীর

          করোনা থেকে শ্রমিকদের নিরাপদ রাখতে কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তর এবং শ্রম অধিদপ্তরের মাঠ পর্যায়ের কর্মকর্তাদের নিষ্ঠার সাথে ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে কাজ করার নির্দেশ দেন শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান প্রতিমন্ত্রী বেগম মন্নুজান সুফিয়ান।

          গতকাল শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয় আয়োজিত করোনার দ্বিতীয় পর্যায় মোকাবিলা এবং শ্রমিকদের করোনা সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিতে করণীয় শীর্ষক এক ভার্চুয়াল সভায় সভাপতির বক্তৃতায় তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।

          শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, করোনা মোকাবিলায় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশনা মোতাবেক মালিক এবং  স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের সাথে সমন্বয় করে কারখানাগুলোতে শিফটিং ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করতে, শ্রমিকদের মাস্ক পরা এবং শারীরিক দূরত্ব বজায় রেখে উৎপাদন অব্যাহত রাখতে দুটি অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তাদের কাজ করতে হবে।

          প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, কোভিড-১৯ মোকাবিলায় শ্রম মন্ত্রণালয় সারা দেশে মাঠ পর্যায়ে কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তর এবং শ্রম অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তা, মালিক এবং শ্রমিক প্রতিনিধিদের সমন্বয়ে গতবছর যে ২৩টি কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছিল তারা আইএলও এর সহযোগিতায় আমাদের তৈরি করা পেশাগত স্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা নির্দেশিকা এবং সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিমূলক পোস্টার কারখানা পর্যায়ে বিলি করছে। তিনি এর সাথে শ্রমিকদের মধ্যে স্বাস্থ্য সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিতে স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের সাথে আলোচনা করে শ্রমঘন এলাকায় মাইকিং এর ব্যবস্থা করতে মাঠ পর্যায়ের কর্মকর্তাদের তাগিদ দেন।

          মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিব কে এম আব্দুস সালাম এর সঞ্চালনায় ভার্চুয়াল সভায় অতিরিক্ত সচিব ড. রেজাউল হক, সাকিউন নাহার বেগম, ড. সেলিনা আক্তার, জেবুন্নেছা করিম, কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তর এর মহাপরিদর্শক মো.নাসির উদ্দিন আহমেদ এবং শ্রম অধিদপ্তরের ভারপ্রাপ্ত মহাপরিচালক আব্দুর লতিফ খান, মন্ত্রণালয়ের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা এবং  কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তর এবং শ্রম অধিদপ্তরের মাঠ পর্যায়ের কর্মকর্তাগণ অংশ গ্রহণ করেন।

          সভায় শ্রম অধিদপ্তরের ময়মনসিংহ আঞ্চলিক অফিসের উপ-পরিচালক কাজী শহিদুল ইসলাম এর মৃত্যুতে গভীর শোকপ্রকাশ করা হয় এবং মরহুমের রুহের মাগফেরাত কামনা করা হয়। উল্লেখ্য, গতকাল সন্ধ্যায় কাজী শহিদুল করোনা লক্ষণ নিয়ে ময়মনসিংহের একটি হাসপাতালে মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।
